A personality trait that I have that is to my fault or credit (depending on who you ask) is that I anthropomorphize volcanoes.  Point of fact, very few things in this household are immune to my anthropomorphization….or at least from being given silly nicknames.  But I have by no means cornered the market on giving geological features “human” characteristics. Folk legends and ancient mythologies from all over the world have done the same since the dawn of civilization….and let us not neglect modern volcano stories. 🙂

This volcano is simply aglow…not because it is currently active and in an eruptive cycle, but because “she” has a “baby-bump”…a prominent lava dome (one of several, actually) on the lower flank, seen here in the left part of the image.
