This lava cone is the quintessential volcano that would seem to be the role-model for  vinegar-and-baking-soda volcano in science fairs everywhere.  It is active, and though sometimes explosive, it seems to prefer “building itself up” with effusive eruptions of andesitic lava.

Also, apologies for my lack of postcards last week. Some family emergencies came up and I needed to take the week off. Next time I will be sure to post up a quick notice, lest you all REALLY think I’ve “gone underground”.
