One could perch up on top of this volcano and view many different things..such as the volcano to the south which is only shorter than this one by a little over 100 feet…or the other volcano to the south which is erupting right now…or a third volcanic neighbor to the west who is active but rather lazy of late (geologically-speaking). Being thus, I took precautions that I would not once again wander off, forget my bearings and return to the wrong volcano like I did at Stromboli two months ago.
But in spite of the fact that I love volcanoes..especially when they are surrounded by more volcanoes, I think I would be perfectly happy to kick back with my nose pointed skyward and take in the show overhead. This volcano is just about the ideal spot for such things, and for that reason has become home to some peculiar inhabitants like the one in the photo inset above.
Kinda looks like our little buddy from Valdalda, don’t you think?
