This is my southeast neighbor. This volcano has erupted quite recently. In fact, it erupted just 41 years ago, but that is not how this volcano’s peak collapsed. The blame would apparently lie with “my” volcano decades earlier. The trouble with volcanoes in the wilderness, however, is that they can get up to all sorts of mischief with few witnesses close-by, putting the burden upon scientists years or even decades later to sort out just exactly what happened.
There are a few more volcanoes in the neighborhood worth exploring…including a large mountain due-east of my little lava dome.
Also, just a reminder to newcomers. If you want to guess my mystery volcanic vacation location in the comments below, please read The Rules linked in the sidebar before doing so.
